William Michael Sanders, CFP®, ChFC®, CLU®
Wealth Advisor, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Practitioner
What matters most to you in life? It’s a big question, and it’s one of many questions I’ll ask to better understand you, your goals, and your dreams. I may ask questions that other financial advisors won’t. Why? Because your vision of the future is unique, and I’m committed to helping you achieve it. Let’s develop a personalized financial plan so you can gain the confidence to focus on what matters to you most, today, and tomorrow. I’m here to help you live the life you’ve earned. When you have the right advisor, life can be brilliant.
I grew up on a farm in the Upper Northern portion of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. I spent my days working on my uncle's dairy farm baling hay, mucking stalls, and picking rocks out of the field. I also worked for my family's side business cutting, stacking, and delivering wood. I learned early on the value of hard work, and during my college years, I realized I had a love for numbers and had a strong passion for helping and educating people. I decided I wanted to work in the finance industry and help people plan for retirement.
I met my wife, Tammy, the summer of our sophomore year, and we got married in 1994. We have four children: Collin, Christian, Caitlynn, and Camrynn. I enjoy coaching them along with other local youths in baseball, softball, football, and wrestling. I was vice president and co-founder of the Gull Lake Youth Wrestling Club (GLYWC), and president and co-founder of Gull Lake Storm/Thunderstorm Travel Baseball and Softball. I ran my first 5K in September 2015 and my first half-marathon for Borgess in May 2016. I enjoy many hobbies, including golfing, camping, hunting, and fishing. I trained my dog Chaz to bird hunt.
I am involved in many community outreach endeavors. I am a past president and current member of the Plainwell Rotarian Club, which is an organization that has the motto "Service Above Self," conveying a strong humanitarian spirit among the fellowship. The Rotary Club of Plainwell has recently recognized Mike Sanders as thier Rotary Hero. Mike is willing to helping others which includes: calling them, helping with errands, and providing transporation if needed. He values experience & hands-on help greatly contribute to our club's success.

I enjoy hanging out on the lake and shopping during my free-time when i am not in school/work. During school, I enjoy watching tv and pampering myself after a long week of studying. I am a easy going type of person and try to keep myself busy, so you can catch me always doing something when I am not working or studying in school.
During my internship here at Commonwealth, I was able to experience the different ways a client's money can be invested. We deal with mostly people who are retired or have retired and help them manage there money throughout retirement and live comfortably. We do have some clients that are not retired, and find them ways to build up a good foundation before they retire.
I am in charge of making sure that the clients portal is up to date after they meet with thier advisor. I help with inputting new clients into the system and making sure all the information is correct. I address birthday cards and mail out appointment cards to our clients to show how much we care about each and everyone of them. I place phone calls to clients to schedule appointments or to update them on their accounts.
